Riding Arena

Ogema’s Riding Arena is located behind the Recreation Complex past the campgrounds north of Highway 13. It was built in 2001 by local members of the Big Muddy Team Roping Association. It is 150 feet x 300 feet in size and comes equipped with team roping boxes, cattle chutes and holding pens. The arena has a sand bottom and just received new sand in May 2017.  A new Annoucer's Stand was built in July 2017 and there is a nice shaded area along side the arena for comfortable viewing. The riding arena is home to the Deep South Barrel Racing Series and the Ogema Barrel Bash. The Barrel Bash brings approximately 200 contestants to town every year and has been running for 9 consecutive years. The Deep South Barrel Racing Finals are also hosted here in September. The Arena is also a busy place for the Ogema Light Horse 4H Club as they hold their rides here from Spring to Fall and also their annual Achievement Day in June.
